Architectuurstudio HH: Faculty of Science, Utrecht University
Nog niet verschenen
The new Faculty of Science at Utrecht University, designed by Architectuurstudio HH, is an architectural rendition of a new tendency among universities to blur borders between scientific disciplines. The need for the literal encounter between education and research is gaining ground and this has consequences for the way university buildings are organized spatially. Here, in the Faculty of Science, the emphasis is on communal space, flexibility and versatility. In this book, architecture critics Maarten Kloos and Marlies Buurman interview architects Herman Hertzberger and Laurens Jan ten Kate on their design principles and conceptions. Urban planner Art Zaaijer contributes an essay on the history of the Uithof campus of Utrecht University.
