Customer review; This publication is a most useful contribution to the understanding of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Well set out with excellent 'table of contents' 'appendices' 'table of cases' and a most useful index. Interesting and easy to read. This upto date guide clearly reveals the difficulties facing governments in deportation of illegal immigrants in certain circumstances. Of importance to many in the criminal justice system, police, private security, prison officers is the care in conducting searches, prisoner transportation, racial discrimination, prison conditions, ill treatment of prisoners and dealing with suspects. The meaning and scope of the terms 'torture' and 'inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment' are dealt with extensively. 'Practioner's Handbook ' is an excellent tool for advocates, lawyers and clearly demonstrates the necessary requirements in the care of prisoners and suspects therefore is of interest to police both public and private, prison officers and certain members of the armed services, military police etc.
