This report contains 145 statistical tables covering the range of topics on the 2001 census. Questions asked of all people covered: sex, date of birth and marital status; relationship to others in the household; whether schoolchild or student; country of birth; ethnic group; religion (voluntary); health; and provision of unpaid care. Those aged 16-74 were also asked about: qualifications; economic activity and employment status; number of employees at place of work; occupation and industry of employment; address of workplace; means of travel to work; and hours worked. On census night, 29 April 2001, the population of England and Wales was 52,041,916.
