Charging in Cellular Networks

This exciting new publication analyses and simulates the billing approach for various service scenarios on GPRS and UMTS. Its thorough approach is manifested in five all encompassing chapters, ranging from basic charging and billing principles through to the 3G charging optimization model. The text addresses the growing need for more flexible and differentiated charging/billing with the integration of voice and data capabilities in the form of new telecommunication technology. The book focuses on a thorough analysis of charging data according to consumer behaviour versus tariff models, which can then be used to derive more efficient billing solutions. Different service scenarios on GPRS and UMTS are analysed and simulated. The optimisation of charging data generation and processing is currently an unpublished area in relation to the application of feedback control techniques. This book targets the cellular mobile network operator segment, addressing technical topics under the responsibility of network engineers, as well as product/service issues facing management personnel.
