This book provides details on the cost of corrosion in the US but as well as the global cost of corrosion. It discusses various modes of corrosion such as: general corrosion, galvanic corrosion, cell corrosion, fretting corrosion, microbial corrosion, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion stress corrosion cracking, etc. It explains the causes of corrosion in the various industrial sectors such as oil and gas, concrete, and automobiles sectors.It covers corrosion in a number of environments including where de-icing chemicals are used, corrosive gas atmospheres where chemicals such as sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide are present. It also discusses mechanical environments where stress corrosion cracking failures occur.
