General Report on the Activities of the European Union 2007

Looking back at the year in Europe. Overview of the main legislative activities and key achievements which have marked the European Union's activities over the past 12 months. The four key topics at the heart of the Report are the four strategic objectives set by the Commission in its work programme when it took office: 'prosperity', 'solidarity', 'security' and 'strengthening the Union's role as a global player'. Preceding these thematic developments, there is a chapter looking at the general policy framework for Community activities, which this year draws the reader's attention to the signature of the Berlin Declaration of 25 March 2007 on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Rome. Other highlights in 2007 included the Intergovernmental Conference and the signing of the Reform Treaty in Lisbon on 13 December.
