Greed

A former SAS officer is recruited as the National Contract Killer or Establishment Assassin. He is unfortunately shot by a local police force and this proves to be an embarrassment to the National Undercover Committee, who needed him for an assignment on behalf of the nation. A poor substitute is recruited hastily from a body of police marksmen and he is sent to Paris to eliminate the fiancé of a Princess. This, however, is not the main point of the book: it is a story about greed and intrigue in high places.
