Imperial Quadrille

This is a domestic history which expands from its Chester beginnings to encompass colonial India and much of Anglo-Irish history, from the 1790s uprisings to the Dublin of Joyce. At the core of the story is a novelist's search for the writer of a diary - a girl in Ceylon in 1860.
