Investor-state disputes : prevention and alternatives to arbitration; United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

The study explores alternatives to investment treaty arbitration. Two types of such alternatives are discussed: (I) methods alternative dispute resolution (ADR) that seek to resolve existing disputes through negotiation, and (II) dispute prevention policies (DPPs) that attempt to prevent conflicts by establishing inter-institutional alert mechanisms within States or encouraging information sharing among government entities.
