Labor Law in China

This is a new, updated edition of a book that has been described as the primary work on Chinese labor law from a Western legal perspective. It follows the evolution in labor and employment law accompanying China's modernization program since the late 1970s. The book explains how China has achieved phenomenal growth while maintaining a high degree of stability. For the reader's convenience, translations of primary sources discussed in the main text are provided as appendices, including the 1994 Labor Law, a standard form employment contract and case reports.
