Bo Vesterdorf, the President of the Court of First Instance of the European Communities, will leave office in September 2007. Mr Vesterdorf participated in the creation of the Court of First Instance in 1989. He has been a Member of this Court since that date as well as its President since 1998. President Vesterdorf's personal contribution to Community law, in his capacity as Judge and President of the Court of First Instanve but also as contributor in legal conferences and author of more than 50 articles, will remain influential.
