Nationality laws in the European Union

Taking a country-by-country appraoch to this increasingly important subject, this text examines the rules of citizenship in the fifteen Member States of the European Union, discussing their interpretation and enforcement. Each chapter is written in English or French by a leading nationality law expert from the country in question. Most importantly, the text addresses the following topical issues: acquisition and loss of citizenship; consequences of filiation and marriage; the phenomenon of dual or multi-nationality; and the determination of the status civitatis. For each Member State, there is an analysis of the various national provisions, regulations and citizenship procedures, with all relevant key statutes included.
