Other Circuits

Linking discussions of minority and subaltern groups, women workers and immigrants, anticolonial and peasant activists, this work considers how local practices contest the "New World Order" of transnational capitalism and modernity. The essays engage in a creative rethinking of international feminism, of Marxism and nationalism, and of subaltern historiography. "Other Circuits" highlights the significance of alternative social movements in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Contributors include Chungmoo Choi, Angela Davis and Aihwa Ong.
