Pitcairn island was until recently a rarely visited, British-run Polynesian outpost floating in the South Pacific. In 1999, alerted by unsettling reports of a rape, descended on the island. Their investigation revealed widespread and horrific sexual abuse. Sydney based reporter Kathy Marks lived on the island during the 2004 trial.
