Reducing the Decent Work Deficit : A Global Challenge

This volume sets forth, clearly and concisely, the ILO's agenda for achieving decent work for all. It reflects on the immense challenge of providing work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity throughout the world. The concept of decent work is explained and a framework presented for putting the agenda to work in a rapidly changing world economy. The report explores decent work in practice, and the policies and initiatives that must be put into place at the global and national levels for it to succeed. Governments, workers' and employers' organizations confront many difficulties in the new global economy – this report focuses on achieving social progress in the face of these challenges.
