Small Wars

Small Wars have killed more people in the last fifty years than died in_______ World War II. They have destroyed great empires, stymied superpowers and shaped continents of new states. They have created a large and almost permanent class of refugees. This volume of 'The Annals' discusses topics such as: attempts to define small wars rule-governed; arms transfers and smuggling; the nature and evolution of state disintegration; and United States foreign policy. Six case studies of small wars are presented including: the Kurds in Turkey; the former Yugoslavia and El Salvador.
