The Story of Joseph in Spanish Golden Age Drama

This volume provides critical studies and English translations of six dramatic versions of the story of Joseph and his brothers written in Spanish in Spain, Mexico, and Holland during the classical period of Spanish theater known as the Golden Age. Comparison of these plays enables the reader to trace the evolution of Spanish drama during its classical period and to appreciate the ideological and artistic diversity of that age.
