Growing tensions between work obligations and personal life issues can have an impact on the work performances of individuals and on organisations as a whole. It is clear that the old ways of working are not flexible enough to meet the pressures on people's time, such as working parents, the skills shortage, staff recruitment and retention, changing demographics and business demands. This publication presents the IIP's work-life balance model, which seeks to provide a practical framework for employers to enable a better balance to be achieved between these competing issues.
