The work provides a clear overall presentation of models of word formation in present-day German on a synchronic basis; appropriate consideration is also given to historical aspects. The account is illustrated with numerous examples from print media and fiction, and also from science and everyday communication. Stylistic and text-linguistic aspects are also considered. For the second edition, the extended subject index has been joined by a separate index of forms.
