Philologists have long desired access to the paraphrastic commentaries on Aristotle's writings in natural philosophy produced by the famous Byzantine scholar Theodore Metochites (1270-1332). Publication of this first critical edition and German translation of the paraphrase of Aristotle's key work, "On Generation and Corruption," provides philosophers, historians, and Byzantinists with access to a major chapter in the history of Aristotelianism.
