Following on from his hugely successful previous release on this label, the latest release featuring piano concertos by Franciszek Lessel and Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyski is a new recording by the brilliant English pianist Howard Shelley, this time made on an 1849 Erard with the accompaniment of Concerto Köln, one of Europe's leading period instrument ensembles.Thanks to this disc, you will be able to compare the authentic sound of this nineteenth-century music with its contemporary version, recorded by Sinfonia Varsovia with the same pianist. Added to the concertos is Dobrzyski's Monbar overture, performed by Concerto Köln under Michael Güttler.
