Roya
Samenvatting
They say life is all about choices; that our choices, whether easy or difficult, shape the journey ahead. But what if for every path we choose, another possibility unfolds in a parallel universe?
Roya is a work of historical fiction, telling the story of a young Iranian woman living in a parallel universe, one in which the Iranian Revolution of 1979 did not happen and the Islamic Republic was not established. In this alternate reality, the ayatollahs never rose to power and Iran follows a different path. Roya pursues her dream of joining the military, and as she navigates this demanding world, she is confronted with the recent history of her country. She becomes involved in the world of national security and joins a unique regional alliance, formed to resist extremists threatening both her country and the broader region.
With a mix of fictional and historical figures, and subtle references to contemporary events, the author takes readers on a journey with Roya (dream, vision, wish) through a world of imagination, ideals, adventure, danger, resistance, unexpected turns, love, betrayal and loss.
